DC man sentenced to 5 years for armed carjacking

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A D.C. man was sentenced to five years in prison for an armed carjacking that took place in Northwest in 2025.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia announced the verdict on Tuesday, saying that 26-year-old Avery Ricardo Robinson III had pleaded guilty in March to one count of carjacking.

Court documents state that on Sept. 20, 2025, the victim had parked their car near the 1400 block of Park Road NW in the early hours of the morning. Robinson approached on a bicycle, pulled out a gun and demanded the victim hand over his possessions.
