Buna & Barley Brings Addis Ababa Corner Shops to Downtown Silver Spring

Buna & Barley co-owner Teff Teffera says the idea for the newly opened Ethiopian specialty store came from the corner shops he and his partner grew up with in Addis Ababa.

We reported last week that the shop is now open in the former home of Wesenyelesh International Market at 901 Silver Spring Avenue in downtown Silver Spring and carries Ethiopian coffee, specialties and snacks, grab-and-go meals, and a curated selection of beer and wine.

“My friend and I have spent the last several months bringing the old Wesenyelesh Market back to life,” Teffera said in a message sent to the Source via Instagram. “The idea comes from the corner shops we grew up with in Addis.
