Spokane police seek $1.9 million Axon contract expansion

Spokane, Wash. — Spokane police are asking the City Council to approve a contract change that would add more body cameras, more TASER devices and more Axon software for officers and prosecutors.

The proposal appeared on the Public Infrastructure, Environment and Sustainability Committee agenda for June 8, 2026, with a City Council meeting date of June 22, 2026. The request would amend Spokane Police Department’s existing contract with Axon.

According to the city agenda sheet, the change would give body cameras to all commissioned personnel at the rank of captain and below. It also would add spare TASER devices so officers have replacements during charging, repairs, maintenance or unexpected failures…
