Spokane receives $1 million in housing assistance for wildfire victims

SPOKANE, Wash. — The city of Spokane announced it has received $1 million in housing assistance funding to support residents affected by wildfires.

The money comes from the state Department of Commerce and will be administered by Goodwill Industries.  It will go toward rental assistance, utilities, and leasing costs. It also includes funding that can be used for resources like medical devices, furniture, gas, and more.

The city worked with the Department of Commerce to expand the eligibility criteria to include residents with a household income at or below 120% of the Area Median income. For example, that is between $90,000 dollars to $108,000 dollars for a household of three according to the city…
