MISSION BAY, Calif. — Gonzaga men’s rowing turned in a strong opening day at the San Diego Crew Classic on Saturday, advancing all three boats to their respective Sunday finals.
In the Bill Weber Men’s Collegiate 2V Memorial Cup 8+, the Bulldogs finished second in their heat with a time of 6:41.953, trailing only San Diego. Gonzaga followed with a convincing win in the Men’s Collegiate Varsity 8+ Active&Fit Cal Cup Heat 2, crossing in 6:23.241 ahead of Embry-Riddle and UC Santa Barbara.
“I am pleased with the first race of the year. The water was a bit bumpy but they shook that off after the first 400 meters and started performing. Nice to have all three boats in the finals tomorrow,” head coach Dan Gehn said…
