JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County grand jury has indicted two men charged with murdering a woman who was on the phone with 911 when the dispatcher heard the chilling and disturbing sound of gunshots fired at the victim’s car, according to a probable cause affidavit KFDM News has obtained for their arrest.
Javeon Javon Blount, 25, from Port Arthur, and Demarcus Dewayne Elam, 29, from Humble, were indicted today for murder in the shooting death of a Shameka Miller, 37. Her body was found at about 6:30 a.m. Saturday, March 28 after her car crashed in the center median on Highway 73 east of Veolia, just outside of Port Arthur.
Justice of the Peace Ben Collins Sr. signed the murder warrants. Magistrate Marc DeRouen arraigned Elam and set bond at $2 million. He also set conditions if Elam is able to post bond, including that he have no contact with the victim’s family or witnesses, wearing a GPS monitor with home confinement, and not possessing a firearm or ammunition.
