On July 7, 2026, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents tried to stop Lorenzo Salgado Araujo’s vehicle near Wayside Drive and Canal Street in the East End.

The agency identified him as a 52-year-old Mexican citizen without legal status, while later information showed federal officers were looking for someone else during the operation that day.
