Hertha Metals secures $133M in federal funding for new facility to make high-purity iron

Conroe-based Hertha Metals has secured $133.65 million in federal funding for a facility to produce high-purity iron, a typically-imported key material in rare-earth magnets that can be used in a variety of emerging technologies.

The funding comes from the Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment program, in partnership with the Economic Defense Unit. The program funds projects to strengthen and modernize the defense industrial base.
