Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe has requested a major disaster declaration from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to secure federal assistance for 12 Missouri counties following a severe weather outbreak that brought tornadoes, straight-line winds, severe thunderstorms, large hail, and flooding between April 23 and April 28.
State officials said assessment teams from local, state, and federal agencies documented extensive destruction and significant emergency response costs tied to the storm system, which produced at least eight confirmed tornadoes and unusually large hail in several areas.
