Southwest Missouri firefighters aided flood rescue in Iron, Reynolds counties

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Firefighters from Ozark, Battlefield, Branson, and Purdy traveled across Missouri last weekend as part of the Region D Swift Water Rescue Strike Team, responding to flooding in Iron and Reynolds counties that killed at least one person.

Deputy Chief Dennis Reynolds of the Battlefield Fire Protection District said coordination began Friday morning, July 11, between regional mutual aid coordinators and the state.

“Those conversations had been taking place Friday morning with our regional mutual aid coordinators who are in communication with the state,” Reynolds said, “as far as what resources were going to be needed, who had resources available, what type of resources they had available.”
