A passenger riding in the bed of a truck was airlifted to a Springfield hospital following an accident in Ozark County Monday and the driver was arrested after his blood alcohol concentration was nearly four times the legal limit. The victim, a 45-year-old female from Ozark, Missouri, was flown to Cox Medical Center South with what the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) termed serious injuries. Another passenger, a 27-year-old woman from Mountain Home, was not injured. The driver, identified as 51-year-old David J. Frazier of Hollister by arrest records, was taken to the Ozark County Jail.
The MSHP does not release the names of those involved in motor vehicle or boating accidents.
According to the accident report, the crash happened when Frazier’s vehicle ran off the left side of the highway and struck a utility pole.
