Local experts share tips to keep pets safe during increasing Ozarks heat

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — As summer temperatures climb across the Ozarks, local animal experts are reminding pet owners that a few simple precautions can help prevent heat-related illnesses and even save pets’ lives.

Animal rescue workers and veterinarians say making sure pets have constant access to fresh water, adequate shade and a cool place to rest can significantly reduce the risk of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
