BRANSON, Mo. — The regional editor who oversaw several southwest Missouri publications says she learned through a text message that the newspapers were closing and their employees were being laid off.
AJ Fahr, regional editor for the Branson Tri-Lakes News and several sister publications, provided a statement to Ozarks First reflecting on the closures and the loss of newspapers that had served their communities for generations.
“138 years for Stone County Republican, over 110 years for Branson Tri-Lakes News, Branson This Week, Barry County Advertiser and the Discover Ozarks Life magazine all gone with a seemingly quick decision from corporate owners LMI,” Fahr said.
