A Springfield nonprofit is looking to have a bit of fun this Valentine’s Day while helping the local feline community.
The Watching Over Whiskers Feline Fund, more commonly known as Watching Over Whiskers or WOW, is hosting a special fundraising campaign for Valentine’s Day. Through Feb. 15, anyone who donates $50 to WOW can ask the organization to name a feral cat after an ex. Upon capture, the cat will be neutered — this fundraiser is only applicable for male cats — and then released to its colony, as a part of WOW’s trap-neuter-release program.
For those looking to help in a smaller way, WOW will write the name of a donor’s former flame on one of its litter boxes for a $10 donation.
Donations can be made through the WOW website at watchingoverwhiskers.org/donate.html or through Venmo. WOW’s Venmo username is WatchingOverWhiskers2015. If donating through the website, make sure to enter an ex’s name under the “in honor” section. If donating through Venmo, enter an ex’s name in the payment comments.
