Numerous tires slashed across Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – People in several Springfield neighborhoods woke up this morning to find the tires on their vehicles had been slashed.

The Springfield Police Department (SPD) said their officers are investigating numerous reports of car vandalism in central Springfield.

Those people who had been impacted said they were shocked, frustrated and confused by why someone would do this to multiple houses in their neighborhood.

“I noticed everybody else’s around the area had been slashed too,” said Ryan Friga, who had his tires slashed overnight.

Two of the tires on his truck needed to be replaced, and he and his neighbors are not the only ones; SPD said they fielded similar calls all day.

“They’re primarily in the central part of town,” said Cris Swaters SPD Public Affairs Officer. “Fort and Grand, Grant and Sunshine and then some on South Scenic and the west side of town.”
