Chris Janson welcomes national TV to Missouri for Route 66 Centennial celebration

The highway celebrates its 100th anniversary of connecting U.S. coasts

Multi-platinum chart-topper Chris Janson returned to his home state of Missouri on Thursday as part of the Route 66 Centennial Kick-Off Celebration. This four-day event will showcase American music, hometown pride, and the open-road spirit that made Route 66 an icon of freedom and adventure. Janson kicked off festivities by joining The Today Show live from Springfield, Missouri, and talked about his love for his home state and the honor of returning for such a special milestone. He also took the stage to perform his Top 10 radio hit, “Me & A Beer,” which is still climbing the charts. Today Show host Al Rocker was clearly impressed by Janson, expressing his awe of the musician playing three instruments at once.

Janson also took some time to speak with Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy, who was reporting live from the city, which is the birthplace of the original national highway. The two pulled up in an American flag-wrapped Mustang and talked about growing up in the state and the excitement around the 100th anniversary of Route 66, a 2,448-mile historic highway running from Chicago to Santa Monica, passing through Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California.
