CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Mo. — A Polish fintech executive accused of defrauding more than 2,000 customers out of roughly $30 million has been arrested at Fort Leonard Wood and is now in custody at the Christian County Sheriff’s Office.
A federal complaint filed this week in the Western District of Missouri says the Republic of Poland is seeking the extradition of Marcin Pioro, 45, who is wanted in Poland for prosecution on fraud and money laundering allegations.
The federal case does not charge Pioro with a crime in Missouri. Instead, it’s asking a U.S. magistrate judge to issue an arrest warrant under the extradition treaty between the United States and Poland so the extradition case can move forward in federal court…
