‘Little Shop of Horrors’ opening in Springfield with monthlong run

High Tide Theatrical will open its production of “Little Shop of Horrors” on May 29, bringing the cult‑classic musical — and a working plant shop — to downtown Springfield, according to a community announcement.

The production will run through June 27 at The Lightroom Lounge at Martha’s Vineyard, 215 W. Olive St. Performances are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Presented by High Tide Theatrical, the show features music by Alan Menken with book and lyrics by Howard Ashman. The story follows Seymour Krelborn, a struggling florist’s assistant whose discovery of a mysterious plant brings sudden success — and dangerous consequences. The musical blends comedy, horror and romance and includes songs such as “Skid Row,” “Somewhere That’s Green” and “Suddenly, Seymour,” according to the announcement.
