Provo PD bomb squad responds to report of suspicious package attached to car

PROVO, Utah, Oct. 10, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — A suspicious device attached to a car prompted a bomb squad response and shelter-in-place precautions Friday evening in Provo before police determined it was a battery pack with two GPS tracking devices tied to it.

Provo police received the report just before 7 p.m. after a vehicle owner noticed the item attached to their car, which had been parked in Orem, according to a department news release.
