STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Northwell Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze, has introduced new robotic technology for knee replacement procedures, becoming the only facility on Staten Island to offer the advanced system.
The CORI Surgical System, developed by Smith+Nephew, is a handheld robotic platform that allows surgeons to map a patient’s anatomy in real time during surgery rather than relying on pre-operative CT or MRI scans. The technology creates a 3D model during the procedure to guide bone preparation and implant placement.
