STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Showplace Bowling Center, the last remaining piece of the once bustling Showplace Entertainment Center in Travis, is now closed and the 10.9-acre vacant shopping plaza that housed it is for sale. According to the property’s listing agent, investors are already showing interest.
“We’ve gotten a big response already, all different types of investors,” said Monica Girgis, an agent with Robert DeFalco Realty who has been tasked with selling the parcel. “This is basically a blank canvas, and the sellers are looking for a buyer who wants to build something here that will make this community better.”
Girgis posted a video to her social channels on Monday, advertising the former shopping center as an ideal space for a major medical facility, educational campus, religious or community center, industrial distribution facility or a “completely reimagined commercial destination.” At the end of the reel, she posed a question: “Staten Island — what would YOU like to see here?” She has since received a range of answers…
