Hudson County Executive Craig Guy and Jersey City Mayor James Solomon are committing to seeing Courthouse Park “through to completion” in the wake of an update by Guy last week regarding HVAC repairs at the nearby William Brennan Courthouse.
“Last Wednesday, we met again with the Hudson County Assignment Judge [David Katz] to explore any possible options that would not delay the construction of Courthouse Park or add unnecessary financial burden to local taxpayers,” Guy and Solomon said in a joint statement.
“We recognize that Hudson County and Jersey City have an opportunity to create a truly unique and transformational public space with Courthouse Park in the Journal Square neighborhood – providing residents with a much-needed park to call their own. We are committed to seeing that project through to completion, while managing a complex set of issues that must be addressed regarding historic County court buildings.”
