1 Staten Island Applebee’s location closes after 20 years

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Applebee’s near the Outerbridge Crossing has permanently closed, ending a 20‑year run in the Charleston shopping plaza.

Attempts to reach the Staten Island Applebee’s franchise operator, Doherty Enterprises Inc., which operates locations throughout the borough, were unsuccessful on Monday. In January 2024, the New Jersey–based company acquired 21 Applebee’s restaurants across the New York City metro area from the previous franchisee, Apple Metro, expanding its footprint to all five boroughs, including Staten Island.
