RUMC says it is open to new affiliations as rumors swirl

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — For weeks, online rumors have swirled about dire straits for one of Staten Island’s two hospital systems, but hospital brass has yet to address it publicly.

Richmond University Medical Center and a possible sale or merger of the West Brighton hospital have been targets of the rumor mill. Officials have only said that is engaged in routine evaluations about its future.
