North Syracuse Central School District asks the county for help supporting the growth that comes with Micron

NORTH SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – The North Syracuse Central School District will see the impact of Micron coming to Clay, which is why it’s asking the county to help it grow, too.

North Syracuse Central School District Superintendent Dr. Terry Ward is now asking the county for help supporting the school district, using Micron’s annual payments instead of taxes. This was negotiated with Onondaga County’s Industrial Development Agency regarding them not generating enough revenue to fully fund the growth the school district might expect.

“We’re anticipating the growth that Micron is going to bring to us,” said Ward. “A gentleman this evening talked about opening up a new school, possibly, all these things that could come, but for us, we don’t have the money to do that.”…
