‘Nice try’: New York State Police point out driver who had fake inspection sticker

HOMER, N.Y. — The New York State Police issued a Syracuse man several traffic tickets after troopers determined the driver had a fraudulent inspection sticker on their windshield.

The state police said on Aug. 6, around 11:54 a.m., a trooper pulled over a 2013 Subaru Legacy on Interstate 81 in the Town of Homer for committing traffic violations.

An investigation determined that the Subaru did not have a valid inspection sticker. The police said NYS Department of Motor Vehicle records showed the vehicle’s inspection had expired in 2024. However, the vehicle displayed what appeared to be a valid inspection sticker affixed to the windshield…
