Drunk driver accused of killing three-year-old passenger now charged with murder

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The woman accused of killing her girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter in a drunk driving crash on the city’s north side has now been charged with murder.

25-year-old Jazmine Vann has been indicted by an Onondaga County Grand Jury for a charge of murder using the “depraved indifference” legal theory. She was arraigned on the upgraded charge on Wednesday morning.

The murder charge basically accuses Vann of doing something so recklessly — as in driving drunk — that she created a grave risk of death, which caused the death of Yasmeen Shaaf.

Vann had initially been charged with 17 crimes, the most serious being aggravated vehicular homicide…
