After more than seven years downtown, a retail store specializing in vintage Syracuse clothing and accessories has moved to be closer to students.
Scholars and Champs opened at 310 S. Salina St. in 2019 and had decent foot traffic for many years, said owner Bert Aufsesser. Deep down though, Aufsesser said he always had a hunch he would end up closer to the Syracuse University campus, the inspiration for much of his inventory.
“I always thought about moving to campus, but I guess I never thought I could make it happen,” Aufsesser said of his new location near Marshall Street on the Syracuse University hill. “I was in the minor leagues and now I’m going to the big leagues.”…
