Former Syracuse quarterback Rickie Collins earns starting job at new school (report)

Syracuse, N.Y. — Former Syracuse quarterback Rickie Collins will be the starting quarterback for Kennesaw State to open the year, according to a report by ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Collins will replace Amari Odom, who transferred to Syracuse and is in competition to back up Steve Angeli with the Orange.

Odom led the Owls to a league championship in Conference USA last year. Remarkably, it was just the program’s second season competing at the FBS level.

Collins entered Kennesaw State’s training camp as the likely the favorite to win the job. He is the most experienced quarterback on the Kennesaw State roster and was competing for the starting job with junior college transfer Landon Varnes, second-year college player Skyler Williams and first-year quarterback Jamarcus Harrison…
