ONONDAGA COUNTY N.Y. — The Onondaga County Water Authority (OCWA) is visiting neighborhoods across Central New York to confirm the materials used in water service lines, a federal regulatory requirement.
The inspections, part of OCWA’s Water Service Line Inventory, will continue through June and include about 1% of OCWA’s customers in Onondaga, Oswego, Madison, Cayuga, and Oneida counties.
Homeowners may see OCWA contractors from Arcadis and T&K Harrington marking water lines with blue paint near the curb box shut-off. Using a safe, non-destructive digging method called vacuum excavation, crews will expose a small section of the service line to identify the material.
