Centro riders worry over cost and reliability of proposed new bus routes in Syracuse

After two years of internal planning, Centro presented its route overhaul proposal to the public during a hearing Thursday night. Around 50 attendees showed up, and nearly half got up to comment on Centro’s first major overhaul in 20 years.

Many spoke about the inconvenience of having their usual routes consolidated or eliminated under the proposal and asked Centro representatives at the hearing to overturn the changes. Others said they were confused and asked for clarification on some of the modifications.

The goal of the changes is to increase frequency in high-demand areas, Bren Daiss, vice president of communications, said. Centro is now looking at reducing service in some suburban areas…
