16-year-old accused of fatal shooting at Syracuse pool offered plea deal

Syracuse, N.Y. ― A 16-year-old accused of shooting another teen in broad daylight at a crowded Syracuse pool last summer was offered a plea deal in court Tuesday.

Kyari Cunningham, 16, is accused of shooting A’Dhon Thomas, 15, in the abdomen with a 9 mm handgun around 2 p.m. June 24, 2025 near the Upper Onondaga Park Pool, according to the indictment.

The shooting happened just outside the pool fence as families swam. Lifeguards on duty rushed to aid Thomas as people fled the park. Thomas was pronounced dead at Upstate University Hospital…
