‘Real, lasting harm’: After AI image shared, Fayetteville-Manlius schools urge families to talk to students

MANLIUS, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District is imploring families to speak with their children after an explicit artificial intelligence-generated image was shared.

In a letter sent to families and staff on Friday, May 8, Fayetteville-Manlius Superintendent Magda Parvey said the district learned this week that an explicit AI image was created and shared “within our school community.”

While the incident initially happened off of district property and outside of school hours, Parvey noted it violated the student Code of Conduct and the district is “working with appropriate authorities to address this.”…
