Time-card fraud spurred Tacoma trash truck drivers to take risks, lawsuit says

A lawsuit filed in Pierce County Superior Court accuses the Tacoma Environmental Services Department of using a time-reporting practice that incentivized garbage truck drivers to drive recklessly. The suit also alleges retaliation against the employee who reported the issue.

Joshua Knouff, an environmental services employee of nearly 25 years, was laid off in March with little explanation as to why, according to a lawsuit filed Sept. 28.
