Tacoma driver dies after speeding vehicle hits pole, knocks out power to elementary school

TACOMA, Wash. — A driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash Friday that knocked out power to nearby homes and Elmhurst Elementary School, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 7:10 a.m. to the crash in the 600 block of 138th Street East.
