WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) – Crews are working to extinguish a wildfire in Wakulla County that was sparked on Saturday by a suspected lightning strike.
The U.S. Forest Service reports the fire spans 1,500 acres in the Apalachicola National Forest. The blaze was found south of Rose Street/County Road 22 and east of Forest Road 340.
For the past three days, fire crews have been burning out brush and vegetation to control the fire within its boundaries.
Officials say there is a low threat to homes in the area, but they encourage residents to stay alert for any notices to evacuate. No casualties have been reported because of the fire…
