Tampa Inmate Convicted In Fatal Shank Attack At Florida Fed Facility

A Tampa man faces over a decade more in prison after a federal jury found him guilty of killing his cellmate during a locked-down prisoner count. The verdict, announced Monday by U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe, convicts 35-year-old Brandon Ejae Elliot of involuntary manslaughter and possession of a contraband weapon.

The incident took place on the morning of December 3, 2022, within the walls of the United States Penitentiary-II at the Coleman Federal Correctional Complex. Evidence presented during the trial detailed a narrow 90-minute window where the violence occurred.
