Getaway driver found guilty of complicity in Jasmine Queen murder case

A Lucas County jury convicted one of two men charged in a popular waitress’ Nov. 2 shooting death outside an after-hours club guilty of complicity to aggravated murder and 16 other counts Friday evening after a four-day trial.

Defense lawyer Tyler Zechura had argued during closing arguments in Lucas County Common Pleas Court that Marshaun Purley had not been proven to have contributed a single shot to the burst of gunfire that killed Jasmine Queen, 19, and injured three others outside the Weekend club at Hill Avenue and Reynolds Road.

But Angela Zavac, the lead assistant Lucas County prosecutor at the trial, said that even if he didn’t shoot, Purley was just as culpable for Ms. Queen’s death and injuries to several others as co-defendant Marvin Pettaway because Purley drove the getaway car…
