Doorbell cams’ value to police limited by motion-sensor activiation, detective says at trial

A doorbell camera directly across the street from the location of a fatal shooting last year offered the best angle of the crime, a Toledo police officer who compiles investigative videos said during two suspects’ trial Monday morning.

But because such cameras are usually set for motion activation, Officer Michael Benninghoff said in Lucas County Common Pleas Court, they may not be recording when something happens that doesn’t involve visible motion.
