Vacant North Toledo home raises safety concerns for neighbors

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A vacant home in North Toledo has sat empty for at least eight years, and neighbors say they are now dealing with overgrown weeds, rodents and reports of suspicious activity.

Neighbors describe safety concerns

A neighbor who did not want to be identified said the weeds are so overgrown they are as high as the house. The sidewalk is also covered in weeds.

“It’s such a safety issue. It’s so dark. It’s so scary when you come at night. I’m afraid somebody’s going to leap out from the bushes and nobody would ever know. Nobody would ever know,” the neighbor said.

“We have a handicapped man in a wheelchair and he tries to get exercise, tries to go out every day, and there’s no way he can get through with the sidewalks covered with weeds. The mailman has to go around it,” the neighbor said…
