TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A Toledo woman who is deaf and her son are staying in respite care after being scammed out of $12,000 and evicted from their home.
Deborah Huber and her son Chris will need to find a new place to stay by mid-October, when their time in respite care ends. They hope it will be permanent.
“At least we got a place to stay for awhile until we find a place to live,” Huber said.
Scam led to eviction
For seven months, Huber had been talking to someone who said they were an employee of the Deaf Services Center and promised her a new home. Instead, they scammed her out of $12,000…
