Local community honors 105th anniversary of 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre

TULSA, Okla. — Several events were held across Tulsa on Sunday in honor of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre anniversary.

It has been 105 years since the tragic massacre that swept through Tulsa’s Greenwood District, known colloquially as Black Wall Street.

“One hundred five years ago, our city entered one of the most painful chapters in our history as the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre led to the devastation of Black Wall Street and the Greenwood District, took lives, displaced families, and left a lasting impact on generations of Tulsans,” said Mayor Nichols. “We remember the lives forever changed by this tragedy and honor the resilience of those who rebuilt and refused to let Greenwood’s spirit be erased. As Tulsans, we must remain committed to telling the truth about our history, honor those who came before us, and build a stronger future for all.”…
