Sapulpa moves forward with removing church housing after missed deadline

SAPULPA, Okla. – The deadline has passed for people living on the property of Holy Ground Evangelistic Church, and city officials say they are now moving forward with removing the remaining residential structures.

The church has operated a housing program for recently released people from prison, including registered sex offenders, for 16 years. The City of Sapulpa says the property is not zoned for residential use and does not meet safety or building code requirements.

City officials say the church missed its final compliance deadline on May 14. Contractors have since been secured to disconnect utilities and remove the remaining trailers, RVs and vehicles next week…
