After 73 years of joint planning with the county, Tulsa city councilors voted unanimously on Aug. 5 to form the city’s own planning commission. The Tulsa Metropolitan Planning Commission, which formerly oversaw both the city and the county’s planning, will permanently adjourn on Sept. 2.
The city of Tulsa’s new board will be made up of nine members, down from the 11 who served on the city-county commission, and will focus solely on urban planning and zoning measures in the city, writes Kevin Blair for Tulsa Flyer.
