City of Tulsa says crews will report at midnight for anticipated snow

TULSA, Okla. — With snow anticipated through Monday morning, the City of Tulsa released an update on how they plan to respond.

The City said crews will report at midnight to respond to the anticipated snow .

The City also said while their respond will depend on the weather, crews will likely first take care of bridges, hills and overpasses with salt when the rain fully changes into snow.

With ground temperatures above freezing, the City said, icing impacts will be limited but the roads could get slushy if enough snow falls. When snow accumulates on the roads, the City uses snowplows.

During the weather, drivers are asked to keep their distance between other vehicles. If large City trucks are out plowing or applying salt, drivers are asked to keep at least 150 feet back and not pass.

According to the City, they are responsible for clearing snow and ice from all main streets, the L.L. Tisdale Expressway and the Gilcrease Expressway, except for the Turnpike section. Other highways in Tulsa are the responsibility of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
