Tulsa, OK – What is Black Wall Street Square?
Black Wall Street Square is a mixed-income residential development planned for the northeast corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and East Reading Street in North Tulsa. When complete, the project will include 25 single-family, energy-efficient townhomes designed to be low-maintenance and modern, with quality finishes and skyline views.
The development takes inspiration from the historic Greenwood District, incorporating a modern take on traditional brownstone-style architecture.
Who is behind the project?
The $8.4 million project is a partnership led by Green Country Habitat for Humanity alongside Boomtown Development Company, McGee Enterprises, and Twenty20 Management. The development was inspired by the late Terry McGee, a longtime North Tulsa housing developer and community advocate who wanted to leave a lasting legacy in underserved areas of his hometown.
Habitat leaders say the project was several years in the making before breaking ground in January 2024.
What progress has been made so far?
Construction crews are currently working on phase one of the development, which includes 14 townhomes. Framing is nearly complete, and exterior work is expected to begin soon…
