The local nonprofit organization WaterAfrica raised money to provide Zambians with access to clean water during the Walk4Water fundraiser Saturday, May 30 in Lake Oswego.
At the event attended by 325 people, attendees walked from Foothills Park to fill buckets with water at Millennium Plaza park as a way to simulate the walk Zambian women and girls perform multiple times a day to provide water for their families. The event has helped provide fresh water to 100,000 Zambians since it was founded in 2005.
The event included participation from Forest Hills Elementary School fifth graders, the Lakeridge High School WaterAfrica club, the Lake Oswego Rotary and the Lake Grove Presbyterian Church as well as the community at large…
