PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The legal drama over a 2019 brawl outside a Portland cider bar is still not over.
One of the members of the far-right group Patriot Prayer has filed an appeal after a Multnomah County jury sided with the owner of Cider Riot, a now-shuttered cidery and tasting room.
Oregon mail-in ballots to be sent out Wednesday: What to know
The fight broke out on May Day, recognized on May 1, 2019, when approximately 20 Patriot Prayer members showed up to Cider Riot to harass its patrons, according to the original lawsuit. One member of the group threatened customers with a large wooden club, while another pepper-sprayed them. A third member struck patrons with his fists.
The pub owner sued for damages and in January the jury awarded him just over $760,000 in damages to be paid by members of the group, which included Christopher Ponte, Ian Kramer, Mackenzie Lewis, and David Willis.
Ponte is now challenging the jury’s verdict in an appeal filed last month.
