PORTLAND, Ore. — The leadership of Oregon’s largest housing authority promised a reset on Monday, acknowledging damage to public trust after years of criticism over vacant units and safety concerns at their buildings, as well as their now-former executive’s spending of taxpayer dollars on travel.
At the end of April, Home Forward’s board announced the departure of CEO Ivory Mathews and named Michael Buonocore her interim replacement. Buonocore was previously longtime executive director of Home Forward and most recently served as interim director of the Portland Housing Bureau.
Addressing the media on Monday, Buonocore signaled “an effort to acknowledge that trust has been damaged and that there is work to be done.”…
