VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A woman has died almost three weeks after a fire to a home on Hawks Bill Drive in Virginia Beach.
Woman hospitalized after house fire on Hawks Bill Drive in Virginia Beach
Just after 1 p.m. June 8, the Virginia Beach Fire Department responded to a house fire on Hawks Bill Drive. When they arrived, they found light smoke coming out from the back of the home. The owner was rescued, treated on the scene and taken to the hospital. They also said the fire was determined to be accidental that began from a multi-plug adapter that caught a curtain hanging above it on fire.
“My mother saw her on the camera when the fire,” said Delicia Cordon, granddaughter of fire victim Caren Louise Patton. “She saw the fire. She saw my grandmother throwing out water. Go in and get a glass. and going back to it.”
Caren Louise Patton, 89, died almost three weeks later from injuries suffered during the fire. She lived alone and graduated Granby High School and James Madison University. She married and had two children…
